You may notice today that the fire warnings have all been changed. We are officially moving into wildfire season. With several wildfires having already been put out by VIFR on Vashon, the community's help is needed to prevent more. Take the time to review safe burning practices by downloading VIFR’s burn permit (VIFR.org/firesafety). Fires should be OUT COLD to the touch when you have finished. Be sure you have a water source and a shovel to mix dirt and water until the fire is OUT COLD. It is anticipated that we may see our first burn ban this upcoming weekend if the weather continues to be dry. Two agencies issue burn ban status, Puget Sound Clean Air and King County Fire Marshal, each with various levels of burn bans. VIFR will update this status on our website as they change, however you can visit them directly for the most up to date status.
